Aging with Diversity

Moderator:

Alison Barnes, Marquette University

Speakers:
Nancy B. Flaxman, Coordinator, Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Senior Services, Spectrum, San Anselmo, California
Clayton Fong, Executive Director, National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, Seattle, Washington
Phoebe Weaver Williams, Marquette University

Surely no demographic population includes more diversity than older American citizens and residents. Each individual brings a lifetime of experiences and character development that shape their lifestyles and concerns in later years. This program will explore the legal issues of adequate income, and quality health and long term care in later life through the lens of three disparate populations: older Asian immigrants; gay, lesbian and bisexual elders; and older African Americans. Our speakers bring to their presentations decades of experience and innovation in seeking solutions to inequities structured into our society and government benefits.
