Legal education and scholarship is often criticized as being too removed from the world of practice. The bench and bar challenge our scholarship and teaching on the ground that they do little to improve the law or practice. But efforts by family law scholars working on projects like the American Law Institute's Principles of the Law of Family Dissolution have made significant contributions that have had an impact on both the teaching and the practice of family law. This program will bring academicians together for a discussion on these issues with a panel that includes a leading family law judge, family law teachers and scholars, and a practitioner to discuss these issues.
