| "What do lawyers talk about when they talk about law?" That's the subtitle of Lawrence Joseph's new book, Lawyerland. It turns out they talk about all sort of things. But this is not a law talk we hear much about at the Association of American Law Schools. This is the informal law talk of the lawyer who ruminates or rants on billables, equality, sleazoids, Kafka's career choices, done deals (and other short subjects). The talk is witty, bitter, aggressive, perceptive, hopeful, despairing and always raw. |
| In this session, we encounter this informal law talk and consider what it reveals about law, lawyering and our own academic take on law. |
