This program will explore contemporary developments in moral philosophy and legal scholarship relating to "virtue ethics." In the last twenty years, virtue ethics has emerged as one of the most important approaches to moral philosophy. More recently, legal scholars have incorporated virtue-ethical approaches in work addressing a wide variety of topics, including legal ethics, theories of judging, feminist jurisprudence, criminal law, and torts. This program will explore developments in virtue ethics and their application to the theory of tort law.
