| Education has become one of the most debated topics on the national agenda. The focus of this debate is increasingly on the legality, quality and value of various alternatives to the traditional neighborhood public school. Our panel will address the legal issues surrounding school vouchers, magnet schools and interdistrict student transfers, and charter schools. Specifically, the panel will examine such questions as First Amendment challenges to school vouchers, affirmative action issues at the elementary and secondary school level, and the legal limits and potential promise of charter schools. |
